InterDesign participated in Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day on April 26th. The program’s mission is to inspire young people to dream big and envision a future for themselves in a workplace where they can build their own success. In its first year of participation, InterDesign rolled out a day full of activities to celebrate the nationally-recognized event, now in its 25th year.
With a nod to Tinseltown, this year’s theme was “Walk the Black Carpet of Success!” Our goal was to provide our employees’ children with an introduction to our company and its functions. The day allowed them to observe their parent doing a variety of roles and responsibilities while reinforcing the importance of teamwork and diversity in the workplace.
Participants each received InterDesign “goody backpacks.” The program opened with a facility tour followed by a game show-styled meet-and-greet lunch with InterDesign CEO Chris Quinn. Kids learned about the company’s history, its e-commerce presence and how their parents contribute to the “big picture.” Kids also had a little fun walking the Black Carpet of Success and took a photo op at our VIP backdrop reserved for our special guests.
“We are so proud to host Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day for the first time at InterDesign because it’s important for our youth to learn about what their parents do professionally and this knowledge could, in fact, help shape their own future careers,” Quinn said.
